Corrosion Growth Assessment (CGA) identifies and reports any changes in the pipeline condition between in-line inspections together with an estimate of corrosion growth rates.

Many pipelines have been inspected on two or more occasions and, based on a comparison of repeat in-line inspections, an accurate picture of any changes in the condition of the pipeline can be determined.

The aim of this comparison, which can be made using both raw and analyzed ILI data sets, is to estimate corrosion growth rates for the pipeline. The rates can then be applied to support future integrity management strategies. The assessment report details where active corrosion has been located and identifies other significant changes that have occurred between different inspection runs.

This information, in conjunction with a detailed Fitness-For-Purpose Assessment is used to optimize future repair and re-inspection intervals. This results in greater cost savings when compared with other corrosion assessment methods.
